Shirlene Coffin

Shirlene A. Coffin passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Miller's Merry Manor following an illness. She was born on October 17, 1949, in North Liberty, Indiana, to the late Orean and Maxine (Wallace) Eaglebarger and remained a lifelong resident of the area. On July 3, 1971, in North Liberty, Shirlene married the love of her life, Howard Coffin Sr. Together they shared more than 55 years of love, partnership, and devotion. In 1988, the couple became co-owners of Howard and Sons Towing, where Shirlene's unmatched work ethic quickly became well known. She was the very definition of a hard worker, dedicating countless hours to helping build the family business while always finding time to care for those she loved. Shirlene will be remembered as a kind, caring, and compassionate woman whose gentle heart touched everyone she met. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, or simply be there for someone in need. While she took great pride in her work, nothing brought her greater happiness than spending time with her family. She cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the center of her world and the source of her greatest pride and joy. She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Howard Coffin Sr.; her three children, Lori (Walt Jr.) Clemmons, Howard Coffin Jr., and Joseph Coffin; six grandchildren, Cory, Paige, Porsha, Paris, Sarah, and Hope; two great-granddaughters, Emma and Addison; two brothers, Gene and Jerry Eaglebarger; and four sisters, Viola Nichols, Dorothy Dunn, Connie Eaglebarger, and Sally Winkleman. Shirlene was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Raymond, Chuck, and Denny Eaglebarger; and one sister, Carolyn Henderson. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 CDT Thursday, August 20, 2026 at the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, August 21, 2026 also at the funeral home with additional visitation from 10:00 AM to the time of her funeral. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery. Shirlene's legacy of kindness, unwavering dedication, and unconditional love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
