Ronald C. Sobieck

Ronald “Ron” Charles Sobieck, age 70, of Walkerton, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on November 21, 2025. Ron was born on December 12, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, to Henry and Carol Sobieck. A hard-working and respected man throughout his life, Ron spent 13 years as a Warehouse Supervisor at Jetcore before retiring. Prior to that, he worked as a well-regarded Rewind Operator at Bomarko Incorporated in Plymouth, Indiana, where he built many lasting friendships that he cherished deeply. On July 3, 1976, Ron married the love of his life, Karen Singleton-Sobieck, and together they raised a large, loving family. Ron was the proud father of four children: the late Raenae Smith, Kim (Chuck) Fort, Eric (Sherry) Sobieck, and Shelly (Dillon) Conley. Ron and Karen also lovingly adopted two sons, Jaxin and Opie Piper-Sobieck, who still reside at home. In addition to his own children, Ron helped raise many others over the years, extending his kindness and guidance to all who needed it. Ron was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 21½ great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Ron enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including golfing, bowling in local leagues, and cheering on his favorite football and baseball teams. He especially treasured holidays spent with family and friends. Christmas and the Fourth of July were among his favorites, occasions that always brought out his joyful spirit. Ron had a gift for humor—he loved telling jokes and making people laugh, and his presence could brighten any room. Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Carol Sobieck; his daughter, Raenae Smith; his brothers, Gary Sobieck and Jeff Sobieck; his sister, Karen Ludwig; and his great-grandson, Nathaniel Piper. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen Sobieck; his children, Kim Fort, Eric Sobieck, and Shelly Conley; his adopted sons, Jaxson and Opie Piper-Sobieck; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory forward with love. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM CST at Fletcher Cemetery in Hamlet, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife to assist with the cost of a headstone. May Ron be remembered for his humor, his generosity, and the endless love he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
