Ronald W. Potts passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in his home. He was born on August 27, 1968, in Michigan City to the late Thomas E. and Margaret (Haynes) Potts and was 57 years old at the time of his passing. Ron was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He never needed extravagance to be happy—his greatest contentment came from spending time with those he loved, enjoying the outdoors, and appreciating the quiet moments that made life meaningful. His gentle nature, steady presence, and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A talented welder by trade, Ron devoted most of his working life to a profession he truly enjoyed. He took pride in his craftsmanship and the work of his hands, earning the respect of those who worked alongside him. Ron had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and was an avid hunter. Whether he was in the woods before sunrise or sharing stories after a successful day afield, he found peace in nature and inspired many others to discover the beauty and adventure it had to offer. Above all else, Ron’s greatest joy was his family. He treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. He looked forward with great excitement to the arrival of his granddaughter, Daisey, who is expected to be born on Ronald’s birthday—a meaningful reminder that even in loss, life continues to bring hope and joy. Ronald is survived by his loving children, Spencer (Taylor) Potts and Thomas Potts; his beloved grandchildren, Aubrey and Bently; his granddaughter, Daisey, due on Ronald’s birthday; his sisters, Rebecca “Kay” (Kyle) Miller and Rhonda “Elaine” Harris; his brother, Richard (Lisa) Potts; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. and Margaret (Haynes) Potts. In keeping with Ronald’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 3:00 PM CDT on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Davis Township–James Hardesty Community Center (attached to the Hamlet Fire Department), 15 W. Indiana Ave., Hamlet, Indiana. Though Ron lived a humble life, the love he shared, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created leave behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
