Culver – Mila “Tootie” (Harness) Young, 85 of Culver, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth. She was born July 4, 1934 in Hamlet, Indiana to the late Edwin and Lela (Cox) Harness. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Tootie (Grandma Toots) enjoyed family gatherings, most especially over the holidays. Watching and playing with the little ones brought her such great joy. Tootie enjoyed reading, especially books about the Amish way of life. She was a collector of many things that included cookbooks, cookie jars, dishes, older pieces of furniture, and holiday decorations. She enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and other wildlife from her sunporch. Sharing jokes and laughter with friends during her monthly card club, on various bus trips, Saturday morning coffee at L & B, and phone chats with old friends was important to her as she believed in living, loving, and laughing! Tootie and Richard (Dick) Young were married on April 2, 1960 in Hamlet, Indiana. They shared 59 years together living and working in the Leiters Ford and the rural Culver area. Tootie is survived by her 3 children Kelly (John Savoie) Young of Argos, Jason (Sue) Young of Rochester, and Joe (Cindy) Young of Hickory, North Carolina; 6 grandchildren Evan (Ashley) Young, Brody (Chelsea) Young, Logan (Dana) Young, Danielle (Rich) Jenkins, Carissa Young, and Zachary Young; 8 great-grandchildren Zaine, Gavin, Lanah, Quinnley, Landon, Oaklin, Adelyn, and Jake; 3 siblings Jerry Harness of Florida, Susan (Bob) Fort of Knox, and Jeff Harness of Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings LaVerne Harness, Loretta Pozorski, Lawrence Harness, Dick Harness,Merrill Harness and Peggy Harness. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 EST Thursday, February 6 at the Leiters Ford United Methodist Church, 7573 W. Church ST., Leiters Ford, IN 46945. Visiting hours will be from 4:00-8:00 EST Wednesday, February 5 at the Rannells Funeral Home Hamlet Chapel and Thursday from 10:00-11:00 at the church.
