George R Bogard

George R. Bogard, 62, of Walkerton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. He was born on July 1, 1963, in Chicago to the late Bert Bogard and Ida Mae (Singleton) Bogard Roberson. George was a dedicated and hardworking man who took great pride in his work and in helping others. A skilled union carpenter, he was a member of the Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, Local 413 and served as a project superintendent for F.A. Wilhelm Construction. Known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit, George was always willing to lend a hand, completing countless side jobs and impacting many families in the community. One of his proudest accomplishments was building the home he and his family shared. On May 26, 1984, in Walkerton, he married the love of his life, Michelle (Malstaff), who survives. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and community. George was the proud patriarch of the “B Team” and cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him endless joy. George also gave back to his community by coaching baseball and softball for many years with the North Liberty Youth League, influencing the lives of many young athletes. He enjoyed playing cards, particularly euchre, and was known for his skillful and winning style. He loved classic rock and always had his radio nearby, never missing an impromptu dance break. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle; three children, George “Tony” (Rachelle) Bogard, Brian (Jessica) Bogard, and Amanda (Jakob) Keldsen; his son by choice and right-hand man, Rick Rittenhouse III; seven cherished grandchildren, Karsyn, Jaxon, Baylee, Atalie, Eli, Josie, and Piper, with baby Tate expected soon; and two brothers, Richard (Karen) Bogard and Edward (Ann) Bogard. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Eugene “Huck” Roberson; and three brothers, Allen Bogard, Robert Bogard, and Phillip Bogard. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:30 PM EDT on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 6:30 PM EDT at the funeral home.
