Fredrick and Mary Newland

Mary L. Newland November 7, 1944 – May 18, 2020 Fredrick A. Newland Sr. August 29, 1938 – May 18, 2020 Walkerton – Mary L. Newland and Fredrick A. Newland Sr. both passed away four hours apart on Monday May 18, 2020 in their home surrounded by their loving family following separate illnesses. Mary was born on November 7, 1944 in LaPorte to the late Marvin and Georgia (Masterson) Nulf and was 75 years old at the time of her death. Fred was born on August 29, 1938 in LaPorte to the late John and Elma (Ford) Newland and was 81 years old at the time of his death. Both lived in the Walkerton area most of their lives. They were married on March 31, 1962 and shared 58 wonderful years together, always by each one’s side right up until the end of their lives. Mary was former owner of the Blue Lagoon and Fred was a retired truck driver with Wanatah Trucking and was also a veteran of the US Navy. Both attended the Walkerton United Methodist Church, were loving and caring parents and grandparents who made their children and grandchildren their lives. Their greatest love was attending their children’s and grandchildren’s events and especially bragging on each one of them. They would also give both the shirts off their backs and their last dollar to anyone to help anyone in need. They both are survived by one son John (Debra) Newland of Koontz Lake; one daughter Janice Newland of Walkerton; 8 grandchildren Justin (Sarah) Newland of Walkerton, Sianna (Drake) Staggers of LaPorte, Nicole Reynolds of Walkerton, Brandon Reynolds of Walkerton, Brielynn Newland of Walkerton, Xena Newland of Walkerton, Makayla (Trenton) Bower of Argos, and Mike Newland of Walkerton; and many great-grandchildren. They are both preceded in death by their parents and one son Fred Jr. Mary is also survived by one brother William (Becky) Nulf of Fish Lake and is also preceded in death by one brother Edward Nulf. Fred is also survived by one brother Cloyd (Carol) Newland of Kouts and one sister Bonnie Newland of LaPaz and is also preceded in death by one sister Georgia Cripe. Mary and Fred both will be cremated and a Celebration Service of their lives will be held at a later date.
