Blaine B. Mikel

Blaine B. Mikel, 64, of Walkerton, passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, June 12, 2026. Born on June 1, 1962, in Bremen, Blaine was the son of the late Roger and Caroline (Knoblock) Mikel. He spent his entire life in the area and was well known for his quick wit, deep faith, and love of family and friends. Blaine previously worked as a Supervisor at Elkhart Products. On October 5, 2002, he married the love of his life, Chana Singleton, at Blissville Community Church. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and laughter. A man of strong Christian faith, Blaine's relationship with the Lord guided his life and provided him with strength and purpose. He was a self-proclaimed sports nut who rarely missed an opportunity to talk sports with anyone willing to listen. He was a devoted fan of the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Yankees and especially enjoyed participating in fantasy football leagues. Blaine was also an avid student of history and could seemingly tell you anything about the Presidents of the United States. Perhaps what people will remember most about Blaine was his sense of humor. He always had a joke ready to tell, a funny story to share, or a way to bring a smile to someone's face. His laughter was contagious, and he had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued. He is survived by his beloved wife, Chana Mikel of Walkerton; children, Derek (Angela) Traversa, Emily (Zach) Sowder, and Sarah (Justin) Newland; grandchildren, Ariana, Asher, Calvin, and Conrad; sisters, Amy (Paul) Taylor, Allison (D.J.) Pomeroy, and Kori (Frankie) Merritt; brother, Trevor (Maria) Mikel; stepmother, Thais Mikel; mother-in-law, MaryJo Singleton; sister-in-law Mary Singleton; and brother-in-law Ivan Singleton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kayla Traversa; and his father-in-law, George Singleton. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. EDT Tuesday at the funeral home. Blaine's unwavering faith, infectious humor, and love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
