Wayne "Whimpy" Dowd

GROVERTOWN-Wayne L. "Whimpy" Dowd, 72, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2013 at IU Health Starke Hospital, Knox, IN. Mr. Dowd was born April 28, 1941 in Aldine, IN to Everett and Mary Irene (Ludders) Dowd and lived in the area all of his life. He was a farmer. Survivors include three children, Alex (Troy) Haschel of Winamanc, Marie (Ron Craig) Dowd of Grovertown and Irene (Brian Harmon) Jordan of Knox; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Dowd Jr. and Ray Dowd and four sisters, Mary Harring, Virginia Sellers, Doris Heise, and Shirley Schultz. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lois. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (Central Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
