KNOX-Nanie Joseph, 85, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in Wintersong Village, Knox, IN. Nanie was born February 3, 1926 in Breathitt County, KY to Andy and Dulcine (Prater) Clemons and lived in the area most of her life, coming from South Fork, KY. On December 11, 1944 in Kentucky, she was married to Troy Smith who preceded her in death. On September 23, 1993 in Knox she was married to Ellis Joseph, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Troy Smith Jr.; daughters, Madelyn Tolson and Thelma Minix; sister, Shirley Lovins; brother, Lee Clemons and grandson, Dennis Brewer. Survivors include four daughters, Linda (Dorsie) Patrick and Dulcine (John) Hunnicutt, all of Knox, D.J. (Edward) Fox of Bennettsville, SC and Barbara (Larry) Robinson of Medaryville; two sons, Earl (Sandy) Smith of Knox and Charles (Sandy) Smith of Port Richie, FL; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Melavie Lane and Wanda Frazier, both of North Judson, Helen Oliver of Bowling Green, KY and Revena Arnett of Belpre, OH and two brothers, Fanuel Clemons of Knox and Otis Clemons of Elkhart. Mrs. Joseph was a retired employee of Whirlpool in LaPorte after thirty-four years of service. She was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church of Knox, she enjoyed sewing, making quilts and going to church. Nanie also loved spending time with her family and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. (Central Time) in Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with Rev. Gerald Allen officiating. Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox. Friends may call Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday after 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
