Nandor Mago

Nandor Mago, 86, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in his home. Nandor was born July 15, 1928 in Mole, Yugoslavia to Peter and Julia (Boka) Mago. Nandor escaped communist Hungary to England, working odd jobs to make his way to Canada to be with his father. He worked on the family tobacco farm until finally making his way to the South Bend area, where he met his wife, Anna Balossa. They were married in Canada on October 1, 1960. He was a brick layer and a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church in South Bend. Survivors include three sons, Fred (Dawn) Mago of Walkerton, Michael Mago of Oswego, IL, and Robert Mago of North Liberty and three grandchildren, Jillian, Zachary, and Matthew Mago. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; one sister, Gilzella Szoke; and one brother, Peter Mago Jr. Private services will take place. Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel is handling arrangements.
