HAMLET-Marjorie E. Scherf, 73, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at IU Health LaPorte Hosptial. Mrs. Scherf was born December 26, 1939 in Fairbury, IL to Paul and Marjorie (Alstadt) Hatfield and lived in the area most of her life. On February 20, 1959 in Minneapolis, MN, she was married to Milton Scherf, who survives. Also surviving are: one daughter, Melissa (David) Gates of Kewanna; two sons, Paul (Denise) Scherf of Dallas, TX and Peter (Rhonda) Scherf of Michigan City; seven grandchildren and one sister, Patricia (Duke) Harms of Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Lou Hauge. Mrs. Scherf was a homemaker. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. (Central Time) in Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with Rev. Ed Hasnerl officiating. Burial will follow at the Eagle Creek Cemetery, Knox. Friends may call Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Yellowstone National Park Foundation.
