John B. "Ben" Warren

May 20, 1930 - December 11, 2020

KNOX – John B. “Ben” Warren passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020. He was born on May 20, 1930 in Chicago and was 90 years-old at the time of his death. On November 10, 1950 in Chicago, he married the love of his life, the late Alice M. Morgan. Together they shared 67 wonderful years together, moving to Knox in 1951. Ben was a retired truck driver with the Starke County Highway Department. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, a veteran of the US Army National Guard, the Knox American Legion Post 131, the Men’s Auxiliary of the Knox VFW Post 748, and a past member of the Knox-Center Township Volunteer Fire Department. Ben was truly one of the kindest and friendliest people you could ever meet. Most of all he cherished his family deeply. Ben is survived by two daughters Mare Koehneke of Ormond Beach, FL and Buggs Bickel of Knox; two sons John Warren Jr. of Knox and Rick Warren of Mr. Juliet, TN; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three brothers William Frauens of Spring Valley, IL, David Warren of Koontz Lake, and Daniel Warren of Downers Grove, IL; and one special cousin Mary Niblick of Ft. Pierce, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry Warren and Ethel Milner; step-mother Mae Warren; two sisters Vivian Lundstrom and Marge Greenwood; one brother Allen Warren; and four special cousins Jack Milner Chuck Milner, Jim Milner, and Bill Milner. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 Monday, December 14 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Knox. There will also be a Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends from 10:00 to 11:00 Monday, December 14 also at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests Memorial Contributions be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or VNA Hospice. Due to Covid-19 mandates, proper wearing of masks and social distancing are required. The Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel is honored to be entrusted with Ben’s care and arrangements.
