WALKERTON-James Arthur Martin, 87, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 in Millers Merry Manor, Walkerton, IN. Mr. Martin was born May 10, 1924 in Cypress, IL to Roy and Zona (Davis) Martin. On December 23, 1944 in Vienna, IL he was married to the former Etta Annable. Survivors include his wife, Etta; three daughters, Shirley Salisbury, Sandra Casey and Patricia Scheffer, all of Walkerton; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy (Ruth) Martin; two sisters, JoAnn Tapley of Karnak, IL and Muriel Paulnik of Florida; one brother-in-law, Dean Meyer of Karnak, IL and daughter-in-law, Roberta Martin of Calumet City, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jimmie D. Martin; two sisters and one brother. Mr. Martin was a retired railroad engineer with Indiana Harbor Belt, Hammond, IN and a member of the Brotherhood of Local Engineers of Hammond. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. (Eastern Time) in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Burial will be at the Grovertown Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
