PORTAGE-Hellen C. Crider, 48, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Franciscan Health, Crown Point, IN. Hellen was born September 3, 1969 in Knox, IN to Ernest McDaniel and Shirley (Rowe) McDaniel. She was a member of the Church of the Heartland in Knox and a former employee of Con-Agri Foods in Rensselaer. Survivors include her fiancé, Scott Wilson of Portage; two sons, Jerry Crider and Tim Crider, both of Rensselaer; her parents, Shirley (Eliot) McDaniel of Winamac and Ernie McDaniel of North Judson; four brothers, Ernie McDaniel Jr. of North Judson, Tom McDaniel of Kewanna, Steve McDaniel of Kewanna and Nathan McDaniel of Francesville; three sisters, Tammy McCann of Winamac, Hope Agee of Winamac and Melissa Tidwell of Knox; and two half-sisters, Katie Corwin of Grovertown and Laura Washington of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Cinnie Roberts. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial will follow at the Eagle Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
