Fred R. Goetz

May 20, 1936 - October 17, 2013

GROVERTOWN-Fred R. Goetz, 77, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 in his home. Fred was born May 20, 1936 in North Judson, IN to Fred A. and Bernice (Koch) Goetz and lived in the area for 40 years, coming from Chicago. On September 24, 1955 in Merriette Park, IL, he was married to the former Sheryl Hayward, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandson and one brother. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ellen (Roger) Pendowski of Kouts, Kari (Doug) Romine of Lacrosse and Kelly (Rod) Schroeder of Bremen; two sons, Fred (Lisa) Goetz Jr. of Kouts and James (Lynn) Goetz of Highland; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Letia Oberlin of Hanna. Fred was a former employee of Culligan Fire Protection. He was a member of the Wanatah American Legion Post #403 and a past member of the LaPorte Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Plymouth Moose Lodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. (Central Time) at Sacred Heart Church, Wanatah. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel and Monday at the church one hour prior to the service. A rosary service will be held Sunday at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m.
