KOONTZ LAKE, IN-Eugene T. Muraida, 83, passed away December 10, 2014 in Plymouth, IN. Eugene was born March 4, 1931, in Gary, IN, to Thomas and Marie (Sanok) Muraida. He was a graduate of Gary Emerson High School, a retired U.S. Navy Reserve veteran, serving 21 years, a member of the St. Dominic's Church of Koontz Lake, the Knights of Columbus at St. Patrick Church of Walkerton and the Walkerton American Legion, Post #189. On November 28, 1969, in Crown Point, IN, he was married to the former Pauline Bekelya. Survivors include his wife, Pauline; son, Michael (Sheila) Muraida of Crown Point; daughter, Cynthia (Gary) Walstra of Lowell; sister, Patricia Krajnak of Crown Point; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandchild. There will be no visitation or services at this time. Cremation will take place. A memorial mass will be held at a later date. Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake is handling arrangements.
