Eugene J. Boyle Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

HAMLET - Eugene “Gene” Joseph Boyle, 87, passed away at his home in Hamlet on Sunday, May 29, 2022, after a series of illnesses over many years. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by family and his parish priest. Gene was born April 8, 1935 to Joseph and Veronica (Schwenk) Boyle. On January 12, 1957, he was married to the former Shirley Kay McDaniel in Valparaiso, IN. Shirley preceded him in death in September of 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Kenneth, Don, Peter, Lon and sisters; Joan (Wolff) and Carol (Bock). Surviving are three sons, Tom Boyle of Bartow, FL, Mike Boyle and Ken Boyle, both of Plymouth; five grandchildren, Andrea Sauer, Veronica (Matt) Petersen, Patrick Boyle, Dominic (Amanda) Hawkins, and Peter Boyle; six great grandchildren, Aiden Sauer, Luke Petersen, Kensley Petersen, Highland Hawkins, Bishop Hawkins and Desmon Hawkins, and one sister Mae Jensen (Hamlet, IN). Gene retired from the former Indiana General in Valparaiso after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of the Holy Cross Church of Hamlet. Gene loved wintering with Shirley in Winter Haven, FL for 17. In Florida, he enjoyed riding his bicycle to his daily game of pool with the guys. Gene also enjoyed playing cards, watching NASCAR and the Western Channel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM CDT at Holy Cross Church of Hamlet with Rev. Father Anthony Spanley officiating. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, June 2, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM CDT and Friday, June 3, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM CDT at the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. A Rosary service will be held Thursday evening, June 3, 2022, at the funeral home at 7:00 PM CT.
