Dennis P. Guard

KOONTZ LAKE – Dennis P. Guard of Koontz Lake passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth Hospital following an illness. He was born on December 5, 1943 in LaPorte to the late Paul and Viola (Baker) Guard, and was 78 years-old at the time of his death. He lived in the area most of his life. Dennis was a proud Veteran of the US Navy serving out of Norfolk, Virginia and belonging to the Walkerton American Legion Post #189. He also served the community for many years as the owner of the Koontz Lake Supermarket and worked also as a realtor for Pat & Associates in Koontz Lake. Dennis is survived by: relatives from the Guard, Daube, and Baker families; God daughters Danielle (Bobby, Emma, Zane) Egger, Chanon (David, Kaylan, Madeline, Sophie, Kaiden, Shawn, Zoe) Peacock; and lifelong friends Chuck and Donna Wagers. He was preceded in death by his parents. It was Dennis’ wishes to be cremated, which is taking place. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date.
