Knox – Dawn Marie Allen, age 53, passed away on February 29, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was born February 9, 1967 in Providence, Rhode Island to John T. Harding Jr., and Rosemarie (Lewis) West, both precede her death. Dawn was widely known as “Dollar General Dawn” to everyone after managing the Knox store for 19 years, served on the Knox Planning Commission, enjoyed playing golf and doing word puzzles. More than anything she loved her children and family dearly. On December 26, 1984 in Knox, Indiana, Dawn married Keith D. Allen who survives. She is also survived by four daughters Audrey (Mark) Weida of Winamac, Chantel (Ryan) Beeney of Walkerton, Katelin (Julia) Allen of Knox, and Tiffany (Danny) Pastorcik of Knox; ten grandchildren; 1 brother John Harding II of Bremen; and three sisters Donna (Tony) Daringer of Logansport, Rose Landry of Bremen, and her twin Bridgette (Jeff) Simpkins of Walkerton, and her surrogate parents Dan and Jean Allen of Knox. Funeral Services will be held at Noon CST Thursday, March 5 at the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with Visitation from 10:00 to Noon on Thursday. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet. In lieu of flowers please make Memorial Contributions to the family to assist with medical expenses.
