Carl A. Sobieralski, Sr.

North Liberty - Carl A. Sobieralski Sr., 74, passed away in his home, Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Carl was born February 14, 1939 in Mishawaka, IN to Leo and Margaret (VanDrissche) Sobieralski and lived in the area all of his life. On December 28, 1963 in Dallas, TX, he was married to the former Marsha Braniff. Survivors include his wife, Marsha; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Roberts of North Liberty; one son, Carl Sobieralski Jr. of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Blake, Haley, Carly, Tyler, Brittney, Jacob, and Collin; one brother, Charles Sobieralski of Walkerton; and two sisters, Mary Knilbis of Michigan and Margaret Bechtel of LaPaz. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Raybon; and brothers, Leo and Earl Sobieralski. Carl was the owner, with his wife Marsha, of the Down & Under Pub in Hamlet. He was a former Police Chief of the Walkerton Police Department, a member of the F.O.P. #155 of South Bend, a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Walkerton American Legion Post #189. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 12:00 noon (Eastern Time) in Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel with Rev. Father Anthony Spanley officiating. Burial will follow at the Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon ET. Memorial contributions may be given to The American Lung Association.
