Robert A. Becker

Robert A. Becker, a simple and quiet man who found happiness in faith, family, and the comforts of home, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at his residence in Hamlet following an illness. He was 71 years old. Robert was born on July 7, 1954, in Knox to the late William C. Becker Jr. and Helen (Starkey) Becker. He lived in the area his entire life and was known as a hardworking and dependable man. Robert retired after many years as a machinist, taking pride in honest work and the life he built through dedication and perseverance. On October 10, 2003, in Medaryville, he married the love of his life, Earnestine (Miller) Becker, with whom he shared many happy and faithful years. Robert was a devoted husband who valued the quiet moments spent at home and the time shared with loved ones. A man of strong faith, Robert faithfully served as a Deacon at Meer Road United Baptist Church in Michigan City. He greatly enjoyed attending church functions and gatherings, especially the fellowship dinners, where he cherished time spent among friends and his church family. Robert appreciated life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing whenever he had the chance and took great pride in maintaining his yard, always keeping it neat and well cared for. Those who knew him will remember his gentle nature, steady presence, and kind heart. He is survived by his loving wife, Earnestine Becker; stepdaughter, Mary (Tony) Mildice; step-granddaughter, Kylee (Paul) Chaffins; step great-grandson, Anthony Chaffins; sister, Carol Paegel; half-brother, Jamie Becker; niece, Terry Swanson; and nephews, Jerry Paegel and Tom Paegel. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Charlie Fisher; and brother-in-law, Carl Paegel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. CST at the funeral home, with burial to take place in Fletcher Cemetery. Robert will be deeply missed by his family, church family, and all who knew and loved him. His quiet strength, faithful spirit, and humble way of life leave behind a lasting example of devotion and kindness.
