Michael Jones

The world lost a remarkable soul with the passing of Michael R. Jones on March 28th. A man of service, passion, and laughter, Michael dedicated his life to helping others and embracing every moment with joy and kindness. Michael’s greatest love was his family. He adored his wife, Pam, and their daughters, Brittany, Myranda, and Lincy. But nothing brought him more joy than his beloved grandbabies. From an early age, Michael found his calling in service, starting as a volunteer firefighter before becoming an EMT. It was during EMT class that he met the love of his life, Pam. Together, they not only started to build a beautiful life but also worked side by side on the ambulance, serving their community as a team. His love for adrenaline and teamwork extended beyond emergency services, leading him to work on the racing circuit, where he was part of something he truly cherished. But after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Michael made the ultimate sacrifice—enlisting in the Army, turning 40 while at basic training. Despite being the oldest recruit, he faced the challenge head-on, proving his dedication and resilience. He earned the prestigious honor of Distinguished Honor Graduate during graduation at Fort Sill, a testament to his hard work and leadership. Mike went on to serve for 10 years as a Combat Medic, including a deployment to Iraq, before retiring. Michael was the very definition of quirky. He could find humor in any situation, making those around him feel at ease with his quick wit and infectious laugh. A devoted Star Trek fan, he didn’t just watch the series—he lived it. His Star Trek room was a testament to his passion, and he even took the time to learn Klingon, embodying the spirit of adventure and curiosity. Michael always said he would be a kid forever—growing old but never growing up. His playful spirit and boundless energy made every moment feel lighter, every challenge feel easier, and every day feel like an adventure. He approached life with wonder, mischief, and an ever-present twinkle in his eye, reminding everyone around him to embrace their inner child and never take life too seriously. Later in life, Michael found thrill in antiquing and hunting for the best deals. Learning from his late parents, Don and Sue, he had an eye for hidden treasures and loved the adventure of finding something special—whether it was a rare collectible, a quirky piece of history, or just a great bargain. But for Michael, it was never just about the item itself—it was about the chase, the story behind it, and the pure joy of discovery. His excitement was infectious, and he could turn a simple day of browsing into a full-blown treasure hunt, always eager to share his latest find with a grin and a great story to go with it. Above all, Michael was the kindest person you could ever meet, a man who never knew a stranger. His heart was open to everyone, and his generosity, warmth, and humor left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer be with us, Michael’s legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him. In his memory, may we all find something to laugh about, embrace our passions, and live with the same kindness that he so effortlessly shared. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Sue Jones, and his father-in-law Pat Kranenburg. He is survived by his beloved wife, Pam (Kranenburg) Jones; his daughters, Brittany (Jesse McMahan) Jones, Myranda (Jesse) Awald, and Lincy (Carter Bazaire) Jones; the greatest joys of his life—his grandchildren, Jaedon, Hazel, Jace, Wilden, Fredrick, and Theodore; his brother Billy (Layla) Jones and sister Vicki Glover; and mother-in-law Linda Kranenburg. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 4th, at Rannells Funeral Home - Koontz Lake Chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. EDT, with a short service to follow, where friends and family will gather to remember and pay tribute to the truly unique soul that he was. - Live Long and Prosper
