Lynda F. Draper

Lynda Faye Draper passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in her home following a courageous illness. She was born on October 3, 1948, in Bondrid, Kentucky, to the late Floyd Kilburn and Ruby Scott. She was 77 years old. Lynda spent most of her life in the area and dedicated many years to caring for others as a Healthcare Aide before her retirement. On April 17, 1967, she married Dallas Draper Sr., in Illinois. Together they built a home filled with love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family. A faithful member of Heartland Church in Starke County, Lynda lived her faith through her kindness and generosity toward others. She loved her family fiercely, and nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was the center of her world, and she never hesitated to be there for them, regardless of the circumstances. Lynda possessed a rare gift for making people feel welcomed, heard, and valued. Her love and care for others were sincere and genuine, and her home was always open to anyone in need. She often affectionately referred to those she welcomed into her home as her "strays," offering them not only a place to stay but also acceptance, comfort, and the feeling of belonging. She had a servant's heart and quietly touched countless lives through her compassion, encouragement, and selfless acts of love. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering strength remained with her until her final moments. She was the kind of friend who always showed up, the kind of mother who never stopped believing in her children, and the kind of woman whose love left a lasting imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Lynda is lovingly remembered by her eight children, Lisa (Jason) Steiner, Dallas Draper Jr., Dana (Donnie Sayler) Draper, Seth (Jennifer Travis) Draper, Damien Draper, Fawn Collins, and Chloe Draper; her many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her three brothers, Dennis Kilburn, Terry Kilburn, and Bobby Kilburn; her two sisters, Marie Triphammer and Frieda Kilburn; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends who will forever treasure her memory. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dallas Draper Sr.; and her two sons, Korey Draper and Erik Draper. Honoring Lynda's wishes, cremation has taken place. A family-directed Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Though her presence will be deeply missed, the love, kindness, and unwavering compassion Lynda shared throughout her life will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
