Lloyd D. "Jackie" Howard

CULVER – Lloyd D. “Jackie” Howard passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024. He was born on April 4, 1947, in Decoy, KY to the late Whitley and Anna (Miller) Howard, and was 77 years-old at the time of his death. Jackie lived in the area for 40 years coming from Starke County. On August 25, 1990, he married the lady who was truly the love of his life, Phyllis (Montgomery) who survives. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps having served in the Vietnam War, as well as being a current member of the Community Gospel Baptist Church in Knox. People knew Jackie as a hard-working man who loved the Lord. While he was so strong in all he did, he had a kind and caring heart that truly shined. He was an animal lover and had a special place in his heart for his horse. Most of all Jackie cherished his family deeply, especially his wife and grandkids (who he loved to take on trips with him!) Jackie is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis of Culver; six children Teresa (Bobby) Spencer and Karen Howard all of Knox, Debbie (Alan) Crissinger and Connie Witt both of Winamac, Geroge Howard of Knox, and Lindsey Howard of Ohio; 23 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren, 2 great-greatgrandchildren; one sister Susie (Rick) Clinger of DeLong; and six brothers David “Skeeter” (Dee) Howard of Valparaiso, Tommy Howard of Kentucky, Wallace Howard of Ohio, Terry Howard of Ohio, Whitley Howard Jr. of Ohio, and Tim Howard Jr. of Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents; two children Sharon Button and Lloyd “Buster” Howard Jr.; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister Ruby Howard; and four brothers Clyde Howard, Shelby Howard, Lewis Howard, and Buck Howard. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 CDT Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Community Gospel Baptist Church (403 S. McGill ST., Knox, IN 46534). There will be visiting hours from 10:00 AM to the time of the funeral on Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in Monterey Cemetery. The family requests any memorial contributions be made out to the American Heart Association.
