Joel Rangel

GROVERTOWN – Joel Navaro Rangel, 70, passed away on July 21, 2024 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born on July 13, 1954 in Santa Rosa, TX to the late Pedro and Francisca (Navaro) Rangel Sr. In 1963 they moved to LaPorte, IN and worked for Bernachi’s. He then worked for Teledyne of LaPorte, as well as McCord’s and Indiana Heat of Plymouth. On June 17, 2000 he married Joann (Yung), who survives. Joel was a lover of music and could play any instrument. He made friends everywhere he went. When he was around, everyone had a smile on their face. Joel had a great sense of humor and just wanted everyone to have a great time. He was the type of person that would help anyone that needed it. He enjoyed nature and taught his kids to work hard for what they wanted, but also appreciate what they have. He came from humble beginnings and a large family. His happiest memories were with is siblings at a young age working in the fields. Joel is survived by his wife Joann of Grovertown; four daughters Patricia Rangel (Keith Green) of South Bend, Veronica Reynolds of South Bend, Fransisca Rangel (Scott Feliciano) of South Bend, and Monica Hacker (Adam Hacker) of Pittsburgh, PA; a special lady who he claimed as another daughter River Rangel of Plymouth; seven grandchildren Lauren, Jamie, Timothy, Isaiah, Daysha, Skyler, and Jacob; four great-grandchildren; one step son Jerrod (Shelly) Stout of Grovertown; one step daughter Geneva (Matthew) Bankert of Buchanan, VA; eight step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; one brother Pedro Rangel Jr. of LaPorte; and two sisters Maria Rangel of Decatur, MI and Menne Rodriquez of Mineral Wells, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers Ruben, Roy, Merced, Ricardo, and Julian; three sisters Juaita Alvaelo, Corrina Aguliar, and Lupe Rangel. It was Joel’s wishes to be cremated. A Celebration of Life service will be held starting at 4:00 PM EDT on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the North Liberty VFW Post 1954 (66992 Tamarack Rd, North Liberty, IN 46554). The Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel is honored to be entrusted with Joel’s arrangements.
