Fred Miller

Fred Miller, a devoted pastor and faithful servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Northwest Health Porter Hospital following an illness. He was born on February 15, 1936, in South Fork, Kentucky, to the late Johnny and Ethel (Prater) Miller, and was 89 years old at the time of his passing. Fred lived in the area most of his life, dedicating every season of it to his faith, his ministry, and the people he loved. A deeply religious man whose greatest joy was sharing God’s word, Fred made his life’s mission about serving the Lord. He was instrumental in founding several Baptist churches and faithfully pastored Meer Rd. United Baptist Church in Michigan City for over 40 years. His church was not only his calling—it was his community, his purpose, and his extended family. Through countless sermons, prayers, and acts of compassion, he touched the lives of generations and left a spiritual legacy that will endure for years to come. On October 23, 1954, in North Judson, Fred married the love of his life, June Miller. They shared 58 years of marriage before her passing in 2012. Together they built a family grounded in love, faith, and dedication to the Lord. Fred is survived by two children, Ernestine (Robert) Becker and Fred (Betty) Miller Jr.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and one daughter-in-law Donna Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, June; two sons, Mark and John; one grandson, Charlie Fisher; one sister; and three brothers. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. CST on Friday, December 5, at the Free United Baptist Church in North Judson (Intersection of IN-39 and Toto Rd.), with additional visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in North Judson. Fred Miller lived a life of unwavering faith, humble service, and abiding love. He now rests in the eternal peace of the Lord he so faithfully served.
